1) Stay away from negative people

We all have people in our lives who are negative or toxic. The emotional health benefits of staying away from those people include the ability to better control your emotional well being, a sense of peace and tranquility, you will feel more fulfilled with your life because these individuals can only bring negativity into it.

I also find that by not associating with negative people, I am able to live a fuller life because I am no longer putting up with their shenanigans.

I will give you an example that relates to me personally. I used to be friends with a guy, let's call him John. John was always in a bad mood or seemed depressed.

He would complain about everything, even things that weren't relevant to what he was talking about at all. The emotional health benefits of staying away from people like John include not putting up with their constant negativity, as well as not being subjected to it on a daily basis.

One day, John was getting on my case about how negative everyone was. He said we all complain too much, that there's no point in anything we do anymore, etc. (Don't even get me started on his views about religion).

I tried to explain to him that not everything is as bad as he makes it out to be, but eventually I gave up because he never wants to hear anyone else's opinion but his own. As a result, I stopped talking to him completely.

As far as I know, he still complains every day and nothing has changed for him except now I'm not around to listen or sympathize with his complaints.

So if you find yourself in a situation like mine, I encourage you to do what I did. Don't allow negativity in your life.

We all complain about certain things from time to time, but if it starts to affect your mental health and well being, then it is time to take action into your own hands.

If someone has something negative to say about anything that doesn't concern them directly, ask them why they're always talking down on everyone else's lives instead of trying to improve their own lives.

If they continue with their bad habits, then start distancing yourself from them until they get it through their thick heads that no one likes being around a negative person who does nothing but complain about everything around them.
